Plan A was to put them out for a charity bag collection.
The first time they failed to collect our donations.
The second time we forgot to put the books out...

Plan B - post a picture on facebook and see if there are any takers.
It is lockdown, people have time to read.
Some found new homes but that still left us with a small stack of unwanted fiction cluttering up our hallway.
"Maybe if you had posted the picture the right way round you might have got more takers.."
I was advised."Maybe, but if they are interested they will have a look."
The majority of these books were not mine,
so I tried generating some interest by including the observation that I had only read one of the books and could anyone guess which one?
There were several suggestions, but no-one got it right.
Meanwhile that afternoon I polished off another, so that made two that I had read...
"It is a pity that we live in such a dead end, otherwise we could have had a box outside our house for folks to help themselves. DH could build a cute little shed to keep them dry..."
A day or so later and I spotted a reference on social media to phone box library in a nearby hamlet, where donations of books could be left and new ones taken. Perfect! This WILL be Plan C.
This afternoon we finally venturing out in search of the Phone Box Library. All we had was a village name and the knowledge that it was next to a post box.We have read murder mysteries
and detective stories.
We were up for the challenge!
Sure enough we soon came across a postbox and phone box,but at first glance it looked like an ordinary phone box.
It was only upon closer inspection that we noticed the bookcase inside.
We added our stash and took a few new ones - it would be rude not to...
If you fancy any of the books pop out to Bentley and have a look.
There is room on the shelves for a few more,
and the advantage of interesting pathways close by to explore.
Perfect.
The one I had read was 'And The Mountains Echoed' and I enjoyed it so much it never made it to the library, because I want to read it again in a year or so.
