For ease of consumptionthe spoon should enter the soup,
but not become part of the soup.
The spoon should be a facilitator,
an enabler -
not undergoing the full immersion experience!
We are obviously not talking faith here,
otherwise, a full immersion experience
would be positively encouraged.
This was my tea.
My humble evening meal
Tomato Soup.
Not terribly exciting admittedly.
Normally my evening meal is a tad more interesting,
but we had been out
and I had eaten quiche and chips
earlier in a noisy cafe in Shropshire.
I wasn't feeling inspired,
so I opted for soup.
Tomato soup.
Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup.
Just one of 57 varieties from the stable of Heinz.
Then halfway through
without any warning,
my spoon slid gracefully in.
Silently submerged itself beneath the surface of bright orange gloop.
"How rude," I thought. "How very rude!"
I had to fetch another spoon.
"Next time," I admonished myself.
"Next time use a smaller bowl!"
Hindsight is such a wonderful thing.
