I. Am. Not. A. Morning. Person.
Husband and I both had great difficulty in sleeping last night, so I am in zombie mode.
Today. I. Am. Definitely. Not. A. Morning. Person.
Wednesday mornings often sees strange items carried across Woodrow, in the name of Open the Book. Last week it was the Ark of the Covenant. Today, two clothes horses converge outside the library, and travel onward together. No one bats an eyelid.
Fortunately, given my weary state, this morning's story is a relatively simple one - the resurrection of Lazarus. Simple as in the storytelling, not the actual resurrection bit, I hasten to add!
There are two scenes. The first comprises of table and chairs where the family dine. The second is Lazarus' bedroom, which, with the simple repositioning of two material draped clothes horses, becomes a tomb. Now the story of Lazarus includes a death scene, and as we have no idea what is happening in the lives of the children, the guidelines indicate that you should avoid making the story too morbid. I am Mary. Every time the narrator reads that Mary weeps, I put my scarf over my head wail loudly. The first time one or two children laugh, but most of the children sat in silence, waiting to see what would happen. Then they get it and each wail of Mary's is greeting with laughter from the children. Mary cries when she is sad. Mary cries when she is happy. Mary cries. The children appreciate this poignant story, the teacher reinforces the message and we successfully avoid traumatising anyone. Result.
To my surprise ripples from my wailing spread further than I anticipated. First the receptionist comments on how useful the deeply wailing would be in the panto she is planning at a nearby old peoples home. Then one of the secretaries asks me
"Was that you doing all that wailing that made the children laugh?"
Rumbled!

Wednesday afternoon is spent in the company of some special little people, who usefully consumed some of the sweets left over for Hallowe'en, but don't tell anyone.....
Wednesday evening sees us traveling into the Black Country for the next stage of the Mission-Shaped Ministry course. Last month we failed to find the recommended parking place, and street parked. This time, after careful research on streetview, we successfully located the entrance of Tesco's, whose car park we had been advised to use. It was a good evening with lots to digest, and not just the biscuits!
